Historical Fact about the Admiral Perry’s flag.

On a bulkhead near the ceremony, Mac Arthur placed Commodore Matthew Perry’s 31 starred flag that had sailed into Yokohama in 1853 when trade relations were opened with Japan. The flag also flew over the Nations Capitol on December 7, 1941.
