I registered but it doesn't appear that my account is active

When you register you should have received an email from us with an activation link. Please click on this activation link and you will be immediately activated. If you do not see the activation link please check your spam and make sure our email address can be accepted. If after completing these steps you still need assistance email us the user name and email address that you registered with.

User Account Questions/Issues

How do I change my User Name

This can only be done by the administration. Please check this link to see if your desired user name is available:

Then email us with your current user name and desired user name and we can assist.

How do I cancel my account

This can only be done by the administration. Please email us with your user name and we can further assist.

How do I change my email address

Log into your account, then click on the 2nd button in the navigation bar UserCP. Then scroll down to settings & Options and the 3rd option is where you edit your password and/or email.

I forgot my password

Your password is case sensitive. You can automatically reset your password at this link: http://www.talkofthevillages.com/forums/login.php?do=lostpw Then email us with your current user name and desired user name and we can assist. If you have tried this link and still have an issue you can then email us your user name and desired password and we can reset. This may take up to 48 hours for us to process.

I tried to upload an image and received an error message Security Token Missing

This is happening because of one of two possible reasons. Either you are not fully logged into your account or the images you are trying to upload are larger than the maximum allowable size we published. The maximum .jpg file size is 19.07 MB. You would need to use software to reduce the size and then upload. We cannot resize your images for you. Please refer to the acceptable file type and sizes posted when managing your attachments.

I tried to access an album and I get an error message I Do Not Have Sufficient Privileges

Users can set their own album preferences and they may have the album you are trying to access set to private. We cannot assist in these situations as it is the users preferences.

I tried to recommend a contractor or service and I don't see my post or it was removed

Please refer to the site guidelines and terms of service of your user account. New members cannot recommend a contractor or service whether it is positive or negative. These post are removed. Once you have an established user account per the site guidelines then your comments will remain.

I posted and received a message that my post has been flagged

A new user account with less than 10 posts will be flagged by the system as potential spam if it have links or emails in it. This is a security measure to protect our users. You may need to repost without the link/email until you have built up 10 posts.

How Do I Questions/Issues

How do I delete an item that has sold or delete a post/thread

If you have an item listed in classifieds or a home for rent or sale and you want to delete your thread you can do this yourself by clicking on your thread, then click the edit post button, select the delete message option, then click on the delete this message button. Any other thread other than the classified, home for sale/rent, or garage sale can only be deleted by the admin. You would click on the red triangle with the exclamation mark in it located in the upper right of the thread and it can be sent to us with a message to remove.

How do I edit a post or thread

You can edit your own post/thread by selecting the thread/post that you want to edit and then click the edit post button. The only thing that requires the admin to edit is the subject title of a thread that you started. If you need to have the thread title edited you would click on the red triangle with the exclamation mark in it located in the upper right of the thread and it can be sent to us with a message of how you need to have edited.

I have a problem Uploading/Adding a Picture

I'm trying to contact a user and they are not replying

You can contact a user via the PM option under UserCP the second button in the navigation bar. We respect the privacy of our members and will not contact them on your behalf.

Classifieds Section Questions/Issues

When I try to view a post it says I do not have permissions

This means you are entering the wrong user name and password for your account or that you did not activate your registration. In this case you should look for the activation link in your email or spam folders.

I’m trying to make my item a featured listing. Do you accept anything other than Paypal as form of payment.

Unfortunately no we do not we only accept Paypal.

Can I post a Time Share for sale?

No, only real estate and items located inside The Villages can be posted.

I am trying to contact a seller and I do not see the contact seller option.

You have to be a registered user on TOTV and be logged into your active account. If you are not seeing the contact seller option then you have not registered, have not activated your account via the email activation link, or are not logged into your account.

How do I mark an item as sold?

When you log into your TOTV account you can click on 'Classifieds' then click on the green button that says 'Edit Listing' then click on your item and click the garbage can icon to delete.

How do I post an item for sale?

In order to post an item for sale you must have an active registered user account on TOTV. Log into your account and click on 'Classifieds'. Next click on the Red box Labeled 'Post an Ad' and complete the fields and submit.
